Microresonator frequency combs

Generation of an optical frequency comb through nonlinear processes occurring in a microresonator cavity has been proved an alternative method to mode locked lasers. Characterization of such microcombs using a laser comb reveals their superb accuracy, opening up new possibilites for wide commercial use of such microdevices as e.g. in time metrology or high-speed telecommunication.
