Terahertz spectroscopy

Butterfly device setup with dropper

Terahertz spectroscopy is a rapidly evolving field with interesting applications in medical imaging, security, scientific imaging (chemistry, biochemistry, astronomy), communications, and manufacturing. Many molecules, especially biomolecules, provide fingerprint spectroscopic lines in the Terahertz region.

THz-ASOPS

The Asynchronous Optical Sampling scheme can be exploited for high-speed THz-TDS data acquisition. With two fiber lasers synchronized in an asynchronous optical sampling (ASOPS) scheme one can build a rapid scannig Terahertz spectrometer. By avoiding the use of a mechanical delay line for temporal scanning the system enables high-speed and high-resolution data acquisition.
